Clarification

Ok...ok,

To clarify my last post I need for you to understand I don't consider Korea MY real world. So yes it is real obviously, but when you know you're leaving in 7 months and you know you'll never be coming back you start to think of it more like an overextended vacation. It's just that you have to work and put up with crazy bosses on this vacation. My real world will always reside at least somewhere in North America. Probably somewhere on the west coast, probably where everyone speaks enlgish, and probably where i will always be able to order a REAL cobb salad and eat sweet tarts. :)

I've started to developed a deep appreciation for the west coast laid back attitude. People out here are crazy...lol.

Thanksgiving

Awe...I miss my fam! And my friends!

Thanksgiving in Korea is just not the same. However, I did eat an amazing meal today. How you get a turkey in Korea I have no idea, but it happened. It was nice to be around such good people, even if some of them were anything but sober. Picture one guy straddling two chairs, thrusting his hips in the air, singing to "you're a crazy b****," ...this is when you know it's not exactly the type of dinner where everyone sits down and says grace. Either way it was a good time. I also learned Koreans don't like turkey. Hmm kind of like how I don't like dried fish and squid with mayo and soy sauce, weird.

In all fairness some dried squid isn't so bad. SOME.

On a side note, I think that a major virus came and infected all of Korea. I'm sick, my friends are sick, my students are sick, my co-workers are sick, everyone is freakin sick! It sucks...As much as I love waking up every two hours because I can't breath, hacking up my lungs, and being constantly reminded I have a poor diet...i think I'd like to pass on the whole thing.

Patientence

Ok I'm good :)

Good things come to those who wait right? Well...Landpia here I come!!! I'm soo pumped I get to move mid December...woohooo! Not that K-One (my current residency) is bad, but hey a bigger bed, fridge, western style bathroom, and vaulted ceiling never hurt anyone right? I think I'll miss my place though. It won't be the same not living above the market I visit everyday. The cute little old men even give me free cookies and oranges.

Let's see what else is new? I'm back into the "enjoy being abroad" mode, which is very nice. I'm trying to go to the Philippines at the end of December...i'm keeping my fingers crossed and to avoid a reenactment of Hong Kong, I'm waiting to book my tickets. If all else fails it's cheap to fly to Beijing at his time of year. Probably because it's so freakin cold! Speaking of it snowed in Seoul yesterday! I wish it would snow in Gwangju...I'm thinking blizzard conditions...aka NO hagwons!

Ok...funniest thing the kids said this week...
Picture the little mummy from my last blog. He is one of the cutest little kids ever! He loves saying, "berry berry strawberry..." instead of "very." Sooo cute! Anyway, so I'm teaching the kids a story about a pet tarantula. One of the questions from the book is, "What is the different between owning a tarantula as a pet, and owning a dog as a pet?" So the cute little mummy gets excited and raises his hand.
"Teacher I know, I know!"
"Ok, what?"
" I eat dog, but I don't eat tarantula."
LOL... I love it! Don't get me wrong I'm not about to eat dog, but seriously it was funny!

I asked one of my older students about eating dog. This is what he told me...
"You don't eat dog because you think it's so cute and a pet. We don't eat lamb because we think it's so cute. Same Same." He has a point.

Halloween

So our school decided to have a Halloween party for the kids. Considering most people in Korea have no clue to what Halloween even is, there was a lot of stress put on the foreign teachers to make everything work. Luckily by some miracle it turned out better then I thought. In the end just seeing how happy the kids were made it well worth the headache...lol.
