Vacation!!!

One week of no teaching!!! Yessssss!!!

So I thought I was headed to Japan for new years...weird, my plans changed at the last minute. Unlike Hong Kong however, this is good news! Are you ready..... Bangkok! Suah (probably the nicest person ever) found us tickets to Thailand for only 250,000 won! SOOO CHEAP! We bought the tickets today, and fly out tomorrow night. Sunshine here I come! :)

...And, I get back with just enough time to go and meet our new teacher. Fresh meat, haha. J/K.

Happy New Year!!!

Christmas Party

This picture was taken after a very long day of way too many kids. Chris and I made them watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas...they were of course mad it was in English. Too bad the movie is only 25 minute long...note to self pick a 2 hour flick next time...lol.

During my class the kids got to make Christmas cards. The assignment was to write a Christmas wish on each card to hang on the Christmas tree. I don't think they fully understand what was being asked of them...

"Girls are my life"

"I'll be doctor and I kill you."

"I will earn many money."

Merry Christmas!

So turns out Christmas in Korea is nothing like Christmas at home. Pretty much not even close. I asked the kids what they were doing for Christmas and they all told me they were just going to go play computer games with their friends. Considering the first PC room I went to was full, I guess it's true.

On the bright side I ordered a pizza last night in Korean all by myself! This is a major milestone for me. Annnnd the pizza actually got to the right apartment! Hell ya! I even opened an account at the video store this week with the help of my beloved co-worker Mung-su. Mung-su is my hero! Now I just have to figure out how to get the English subtitles working and I'll be content...at least for another week or so.

K, I'll update pics a.s.a.p. I've got some good ones :)

Eat lots of candy canes for me! I miss you guys!

Another Sunday

Here I am again...another PC room surrounded by kids playing Sudden Attack and Star craft. AAAHHHHHH! Why do all computers hate me? Something is wrong with my wireless card, so I can only pick up the Internet through landlines. AKA I have to start paying for Internet..,darn it! Oh well, at least I'll be able to download stuff super fast.

I still can't believe it's almost Xmas. My Korean friend told me last night that it's not big over here because it's more of a couples holiday. Since I'm finally moved in now I decided after a little too much soju that we should have Xmas dinner at my place. I figure, it's Xmas right?...I have to do something. I'm thinking the half Korean, half foreigner mix will be good. I promise I'll take lots of pics :)

스 카 이 = Skye

It takes me sooo long to write anything in Korean on the computer...lol. I'm getting better at texting though, so that's a plus. ^^

Ok, I've been in here for way too long.

Hi again!

Hi guys!

So I've had no Internet all week, sorry :(

But on the bright side I'm moving on Wednesday woohoo!!! Plus I'm stoked for Osaka, Japan from the 29th to the 4th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that new years will be a blast. I get Christmas day off, but I have to work every other day that week, how bad does that suck?!?

Anyway, I'm soo happy. I'm so glad I decided to do this whole Korea thing. I think that everything has finally come together. I finally hit the realization that I did really need this whole experience. I get it now.

Took long enough...right?

K, I hope everyone is doing well. Merry Christmas! I keep forgetting it's christmas since it's not that big over here.

p.s. Girls I will keep calling! I know I'm the queen of bad timing but I figure maybe one day I'll actually get a hold of you guys ;)

One day

I'm taking a break from writing midterms. I'm such a last minute person!...haha.

So I'm sad I missed the big civil war game, but I heard we won! Go Beavs!! Word on the street, all the girls headed down to Rock Bottom. I would probably kill for a good rock bottom pretzel and a wheat beer right now...not to mention just being able to sit around and talk with the girls! On the upside I did eat an amazing meal at outback today. I know what you're thinking and the answer is YES outback steak house tastes amazing even in korea! Come to think of it I did eat some amazing food this weekend... outback, great korean bbq, french toast, cheese ravioli...it was by far the best food weekend yet!

Let see, I'm also finally attempting to get my hair done next Saturday. I'm pretty much scared to death they're going to turn my hair orange though. Apparently this is fairly common among blonds here. If worse comes to worse I'll go brown. It won't be easy...I'll probably cry...lol, but hey it's better then orange right?

Ok and last but not least, funny kid story of the week...

I was told by a 13 year old boy that people are tall because they jump rope. He seriously thinks that by jumping rope your body becomes longer. I didn't have the heart to tell him the truth, and even if I did I don't think he would have believed me...lol. Seriously where do they get this stuff?
